Star Fox developer is sure that the series will ever return
According to the developer of Star Fox Dylan Cuthbert, the series will ever return.
Earlier, Catbert worked at Argonaut Software and was one of the main programmers of the original Star Fox (aka Starwing).
Despite the fact that Star Fox is one of the most recognizable Nintendo brands, a new game on it has not been released for seven years – the last was Star Fox Zero on Wii U, who received an ambiguous assessment of critics.
In a recent interview with VGC, the journalists asked Katbert if he was waiting for Star Fox returning in the near future.
Catbert replied that yes, but emphasized that, in his opinion, previous games about Star Fox could not convey the atmosphere of the first game.
Oh, I’m sure she will return. After all, they continue to try, aren’t they? They continue to try, but do not quite reach the original. But I think that the matter is different – I believe that the original was born from British 3D in the Amiga style of that time, from games such as Star Glider or Carrier Command. She was born of them, as well as from the Arcade Game of Star Wars Arcade in combination with Namco Starblade. And then all Nintendo characters appeared in it, all the heroes and so on that made her very friendly to the family.
Catbert explained that, in his opinion, in modern games about Star Fox at least one of these elements, which means that none of them could convey the tone of the original.
It was the combination of all these elements that I believe that made Star Fox what he was. Some of the later games – say, the version from Namco is excellent games, but they always lack any one element, that old British 3D -player. So this game turned out to be very dexterous – they perfectly coped with Starblade, but this is a combination of all [elements], you need all this to work. And, of course, the game made by Rare, Star Fox Adventures was also a good attempt, but it was too British, there was no Starblade in it. So I think that Star Fox is a very difficult game, because all these elements should be present in it, and this gives it the atmosphere that is necessary for it to really work.
Last year, the designer of the Star Fox character Takayia Imamura called on Nintendo to transfer the game Star Fox Zero for Wii U on Switch, and its Platinumgames developer said it was ready to do this.
To the question of whether he was tired of talking about Star Fox after so many years, Catbert noticed that he was a T -shirt with the image of Star Fox, and then answered: "I think this is still a rather original game, isn’t it?
Even now there are no Star Fox analogues, so I think that this is why it remained in the memory of people. This is strange, but she remained a rather unique game, and I think it’s very cool. But I’m not tired of Star Fox, really. It was an interesting project, it was interesting to do it, I was very young at that time, but it was just a very good experience. Only one year of development, and everything was accommodated in it, and only a few people worked on it.
